Gas2Wire is ideally suited for oil fields with marginal or stranded associated and/or free (non-associated) gas volumes. Power cables brought to shore for a Gas2Wire project can be installed for less than an export pipeline and can often take a shorter route ‘to market’ to meet the grid. This is without considering the energy efficiency gains, which include the removal of gas ‘shrinkage’ and the associated emissions.
Angola’s economy is heavily reliant upon hydrocarbon production. Utilising only part of the wasted resources cited in Part 1, through Gas2Wire projects, will generate revenue for the economy and give energy security to local communities. This will then give people the option to switch away from less efficient, more carbon and pollution intensive fuels, such as diesel.
