To achieve the IEA’s ‘Sustainable Development Scenario’ rapid and widespread changes across all parts of the energy system are required.
There are countless articles and reports of the same rhetoric, each with charts of CO2 emissions from combustion sources. More focus should perhaps be given to the fact that the means to improve the environment we live in today are now within our grasp. We can significantly cut air pollution (reducing CO2, SOx, NOx, PM2.5, PM10) by facilitating change. Whether in government, an energy company, as an investor or as the consumer, this is the opportunity of a lifetime and one that will define our generation.
At MFDevCo, we believe that switching mature fields to Gas2Wire is one of the cleanest ways to generate electricity from natural gas, and one that can play a significant role in the myriad of ways to deliver the energy transition in line with climate goals. Producing electricity at the point of extraction removes the efficiency losses associated with the ‘gas export’ stage (physical transmission losses and energy for compression being effectively cut-out). In exchange, there is a marginal and critically emission free power loss / voltage drop on route to shore.
